Paxton’s Sue Zecco Becomes Four Time Winner of Dog Grooming Industry’s Most Prestigious Award

AZUSA, Calif. – Members of the competitive dog grooming industry gathered recently at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas for the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards, its version of the Oscars which honors the year’s best and brightest groomers, contest judges and pet salons.  This year’s recipients included Paxton, Massachusetts’ own Sue Zecco, who was presented with the Congeniality Award for her outstanding sportsmanship, fellowship and camaraderie with her fellow groomers.

Zecco, who has owned The Pampered Pet in Paxton for the last 34 years, is no stranger to the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards, having won the American Groomer of the Year Award in 1998 and 2000 and the Grooming Contest Judge of the Year Award in 2002.  She began competitive grooming in 1985 and is a Certified Master Groomer with the National Dog Grooming Association of America and the International Professional Groomers.  In addition to the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards, Sue has received numerous awards throughout her grooming career, including Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at Intergroom, and multiple Best in Shows and Best All-Around Groomer Awards, plus she was named the International Groomer of the Year at Intergroom in 1998.  She is also a well-respected national and international contest judge, speaker and demonstrator.

“For many years, Sue has demonstrated her camaraderie with fellow groomers and is always ready to help those who are new to the profession or want to seek out the voice of experience,” said Tony De Vos, President of Cardinal Pet Care.  “The dictionary defines ‘congeniality’ as friendly, pleasant and agreeable, and those are all words I would use to describe Sue.  We at Cardinal are pleased to present her with this year’s Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Award for Congeniality.”

The Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards were founded in 1988 by Cardinal President Tony De Vos and Shirlee Kalstone, then owner of the International Intergroom trade show for competitive grooming, for the purpose of establishing standards of grooming excellence and recognizing professional skills in the competitive grooming industry.  Since the beginning, the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards have been considered one of the highest honors in the pet grooming industry, annually presenting awards for outstanding achievement in six different categories.

New categories to this year’s Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards include the Retail Grooming Salon of the Year Awards, which are split into two categories – More than 5 Salons, and Fewer than 5 Salons.  Also new to this year’s Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards is the Mobile Groomer of the Year Award.  For a list of the other winners, as well as more information about the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards, visit http://www.cardinalcrystalAwards.com/card_AwardDesc.htm.
