Belleville’s Shaffia Galis-Menendez Wins Mobile Groomer of the Year Award at Leading Industry Trade Show

AZUSA, Calif. – Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas was the setting for the prestigious Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards, the competitive dog grooming industry’s version of the Oscars that honors the best and brightest groomers, contest judges and pet salons.   At this year’s ceremony, Shaffia Galis-Menendez from Belleville, New Jersey was honored as the Mobile Groomer of the Year during the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards ceremony. The award as given to Galis-Mendendez for her high standards, professionalism and customer service.

Galis-Mendendez has spent much of her life working with animals, but she wasn’t always a groomer.  It was after several years as a veterinary technician that she opted for a career change and made the decision to become a professional pet groomer.  She opened her salon, Best of Breed Grooming, in 1994, and in 2005 she added mobile grooming services to the business with the acquisition of a Wag-n Tails grooming van.  Through word of mouth from her many satisfied customers, Best of Breed Grooming has become one of the most sought-after pet grooming services in New Jersey.

The Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards were founded in 1988 by Cardinal President Tony De Vos and Shirlee Kalstone, then owner of the International Intergroom trade show for competitive grooming, for the purpose of establishing standards of grooming excellence and recognizing professional skills in the competitive grooming industry.  Since the beginning, the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards have been considered one of the highest honors in the pet grooming industry, annually presenting awards for outstanding achievement in six different categories.
