Madison’s Olga Zabelinskaya Named American Dog Groomer of the Year at Industry Show

Elite Pet Spa & Boutique Owner Receives Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Award, Pet Industry’s Version of an Oscar

AZUSA, Calif. – The best and the brightest of the competitive dog grooming industry recently gathered at the SuperZoo pet retailer trade show at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the annual presentation of the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards, the industry’s version of the Oscars.  Madison, New Jersey’s own Olga Zabelinskaya was the recipient of the American Groomer of the Year Award, and her Elite Pet Spa & Boutique received the award for Retail Pet Salon of the Year (Less than 5 Units). 

Olga is a native of Russia, where she received a Master’s Degree in Engineering and went to law school before coming to the United States and beginning her career as a highly respected professional dog groomer, earning Certified Master Groomer status and membership in the International Pet Groomers Association and National Dog Groomers Association of America.  Her impressive list of grooming accomplishments consists of past Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards, including last year’s American Groomer of the Year and Congeniality Awards, Best in Show honors at Carolina GroomFest, and as a Top Ten member of the prestigious Groom Team USA in 2008, 2009 and 2010.  Additionally, she has styled a “copy” model for Maggie Good, who is the owner and groomer of Charmin, the top-winning Sealyham Terrier of all time, and another for Pet Fashion Week in New York City.  Olga is always quick to volunteer her time and skills to fundraisers, grooming for free to raise money for causes that are important to her.

Olga’s Elite Pet Spa & Boutique offers human-like services for pets, including “paw-dicures,” blueberry facials and Dead Sea mineral mud scrubs, all of which use only natural and organic products.  The salon is the go-to destination for dogs in preparation for the Westminster Kennel Club Show and the Eukanuba Dog Show.  The Boutique features a variety of playful toys and stylish outerwear for pets, as well as treats and special birthday “cakes” for canine customers.

The Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards were founded in 1988 by Cardinal President Tony De Vos and Shirlee Kalstone, then owner of the International Intergroom trade show for competitive grooming, for the purpose of establishing standards of grooming excellence and recognizing professional skills in the competitive grooming industry.  Since the beginning, the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards have been considered one of the highest honors in the pet grooming industry, annually presenting awards for outstanding achievement in six different categories.
