Genoa’s Lisa Leady Wins Mobile Groomer of the Year Award at Leading Industry Trade Show

Certified Master Groomer and Former Reality Show Contestant Receives Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Award, Pet Industry’s Version of an Oscar

AZUSA, Calif. – Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas was the setting for the prestigious Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards, the competitive dog grooming industry’s version of the Oscars that honors the best and brightest groomers, contest judges and pet salons. At this year’s ceremony, Genoa’s Lisa Leady was presented with the Mobile Groomer of the Year Award, which was given for her high standards, professionalism and customer service in a mobile grooming environment.

A Certified Master Groomer by two organizations (the National Dog Groomers Association of America and the International Pet Groomers, Inc.), Lisa is a third-generation groomer and owner of Primp My Pooch Mobile Dog and Cat Salon, based in Genoa. She is also a member of Groom Team USA and was the #2 ranked groomer in the country in 2006 and 2007. Lisa has received numerous awards over her 30 year grooming career; among them was the very first Grooming Contest Judge of the Year from Barkleigh Honors, and several Cardinal Crystal awards, including the David Salzberg Award, the Grooming Contest Judge of the Year Award and the Congeniality Award. Lisa and her husband raise and show Smooth Fox Terriers under the kennel name, “Pinnacle,” and she was the runner up on Season 2 of Animal Planet’s reality competition show, “Groomer Has It.”

“Lisa’s dedication to and enthusiasm for grooming and her willingness to share her skills with others reflect positively on the grooming world and helps to promote awareness of the importance of proper grooming,” said Tony de Vos, President of Cardinal Pet Care, a major manufacturer of pet products and sponsor of the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards. “We are thrilled to present the Mobile Groomer of the Year Award to Lisa, and we congratulate her.”

The Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards were founded in 1988 by Cardinal Pet Care President Tony de Vos and Shirlee Kalstone, then owner of the International Intergroom trade show for competitive grooming, for the purpose of establishing standards of grooming excellence and recognizing professional skills in the competitive grooming industry. Since the beginning, the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards have been considered one of the highest honors in the pet grooming industry, annually presenting awards for outstanding achievement in eight different categories.
